Building Face Paint Cleaner (Remover). Dimet®

No. 158 - based on methylene chloride. It is a fast-setting Old Paint Remover providing a long coating life as compared to traditional methylene chloride compositions. If appropriate consumption rate is observed, you will not need to wait 4 hours until it dries. Moreover, this remover allows to clean external coatings in the winter period.
No. 161 – based on semi-volatile and high-boiling solvents and free of methylene chloride. It is recommended for removal of multilayer coatings, including the systems with interlayer adhesion violation. With at least one hour of exposure period, this remover is not as fast-setting as methylene chloride compositions. It removes more complicated surface coatings and does not dry out on the surface within 24 hours and within 36 hours in a polyethylene compress. It is optimal for removal of stucco, including gesso, as it softens gesso more gently than methylene chloride-based compositions.
No. 222, No. 223 и СП-67 (марка А) - so-called "hybrid" compositions based on methylene chloride and mixture of semi-volatile solvents. It is recommended for removal of multilayer coatings, including "hot" surfaces up to +35°С on the sunny side in the summer period. "Lifetime" is minimum 8 hours in the polyethylene compress.

SP-6 - Old Paint Remover

  1. Designation: For quick and high-quality "cold" chemical removal of both cold- and hot-setting old paints based on pentaphtol, glyptal, acrylic, epoxy, melamine-formaldehyde and other resins from the ferrous metal surfaces. Removes 3 to 4 layers of old paint per cycle.
  2. Application:
    • Apply with a brush (without stumping), a roller or an applicator;
    • Once the paint remover is swelled out, wrinkled or softened, remove it along with an old coating;
    • Repeat the process if necessary. Do not allow the paint remover to dry;
    • Optimal surface temperature is 20±5°С, acceptable range is +5°С to +30°С.

  3. Recommendations:
    • Store and transport at –20°С to +30°С in tightly closed containers;
    • Thickness of applied paint remover shall be not less than thickness of the coating to be removed;
    • Minimum consumption rate of the old paint remover is 1 liter per 3 sq/m (with a 0.33 mm thick layer of the paint remover);
    • Cure time (exposition) for old paint removal is 10 minutes to 2 hours (avoid drying out);
    • Approximate consumption rate for removal of 3-4 layers of old paint is 1 liter per 2 sq/m (with a 0.5 mm thick layer of the paint remover);
    • Use polyethylene film to protect synthetic materials (plastic items, linoleum, rubber, etc.) from the paint remover;
    • Removes old domestic and foreign paints from horizontal, vertical and ceiling surfaces;
    • Use Turbo-Reactive solvent to remove dried out paint remover;
    • Remove softened (swelled out) layer with an applicator or water under high pressure, degrease the surface with solvent if necessary;
    • Before painting, degrease the surface with FAS-104 working solution. This technical cleaning and inhibitory agent protects metal from corrosion and prepares it for further painting. In addition, it allows to store metalwork in the open air under shelter for up to 6 months.
  4. Safety precautions:
    • Wear rubber gloves and safety goggles;
    • In the event of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with running water;
    • In the event of contact with skin, remove with a rag and rinse with water;
    • Provide good ventilation in the room
  5. Composition: The paint remover is a thixotripic (jellous) liquid containing organic solvents, methylene chloride, SAS, evaporation retardants, thickeners, activators and acetic acid.
  6. Disposal: Exhausted product shall be disposed as an organic solvent.

SP-7 - Old Paint Remover

 
  1. Product description: Popular composition for quick and high-quality removal of old paints based on alkyd-acrylic (АС), oil-styrene (OS), melamine (ML), polyvinyl-acetal (PL), epoxy fillers and primers (EP 0010, EP 0020) as well as any combinations of the above materials. Removes 3 to 4 layers of old paint per cycle.
  2. Application:
    • Apply with a brush (without stumping) or an applicator;
    • Once the paint remover is swelled out, wrinkled or softened, remove it along with an old coating;
    • Repeat the process if necessary. Do not allow the paint remover to dry;

Guidelines for Individual Selection of Removers

The present guidelines specifies working procedure on the concrete object according to the individual selection of the most suitable (optimal) OLD PAINT REMOVER grade

  1. Required materials and tools:
      - 2-3 grades of the OLD PAINT REMOVER (different formulations) with the volume of 0.5 l;
      - hard applicator, 30 to 50 mm in width;
      - flat brush with, 40 to 70 mm in width;
      - container from 0.5 to 1.0 l (glass, p/e, metal) with a wide throat for brush;
      - stop-watch timer (watch);
      - thermometer;
  2. Test conditions:
      - optimal surface temperature - from 5°С to 35°С (it is required to use OLD PAINT REMOVER No.161 in case the surface temperature exceeds 35°С).
  3. Test method:
      3.1. 2-3 samples of the remover shall be tested simultaneously;
      3.2. Apply a layer of each type of the OLD PAINT RAMOVER on a surface in excess with the thickness of 0.5÷0.7 mm on the area of 25×40 cm in 2-3 zones (according to the number of the OLD PAINT RAMOVER test samples)
      3.3. Note the application time.
      3.4. Wait for 10 minutes.
      3.5. Remove a surface equal to 1/4 share from every part with an applicator.
      3.6. Estimate quantity of removed paint layers and removal ease on every part.
      3.7. Wait for 20 min, repeat steps 3.5. and 3.6. on the next surface area (1/4 share).
      3.8. Wait for 30 min, repeat steps 3.5. and 3.6. on the next surface area (1/4 share).
      3.9. Apply remover layer again on every area of 25×40cm.
      3.10. Repeat steps 3.3.÷3.8.
      3.11. Remove an old paint layer from the last (fourth) area with an applicator.
  4. Comparison results estimation.
      4.1. Comparative features of different remover samples and required cure time is estimated according to the results of steps 3.3.÷3.8. The more paint layers are removed at a time and during a shorter period, the better is the remover for the present application conditions.
      4.2. The necessity of the OLD PAINT REMOVER repeated application and its quality during the repeated application (according to step 4.1) are estimated according to the results of step 3.10. It should be noted that during a single remover application the quantity of the removed paint layers shall not exceed 4÷10 layers.
      4.3 The remover applicability according to "wet-on-wet technology" is estimated according to the results of step 3.11. In case of complete paint removal, it allows to avoid the excessive cycle of coating overlay removal with an applicator. i.e., it implements a cycle "apply twice - remove once".

FAS-109 Alpinist. Technical Agent for High-Rise Face Cleaning

Concentrated technical water-based agent is used to clean building faces and engineering structures from atmospheric, soil and oil contaminations. It is designed to perform cleaning operations without falsework or scaffold-towers (high rise cleaning). Old Paint Remover No. 281 for Graffiti, Marks and Adhesive Solutions

Remover No. 281 is a mixture of semi-volatile organic solvents. It is a liquid (not jellylike) solution which penetrates immediately into the paint structure and destructs it. Being free of acids and alkalis (рН-neutral), it provides corrosion sluggishness. Old Paint Remover No. 281 does not contain any additives (thickeners, SAS, etc.) but consists of active solvents only, so it does not leave any traces after a surface dries out completely.
